A meeting in Athens focusing on the abduction, arrest and long detention of the Kurdish leader, Abdullah Ocalan is to take place on Monday, 15th February. This is a prelude to the suit that Ocalan’s lawyers with their Greek lawyer colleagues will be bringing against the Greek government, in November, for its role in the alleged conspiracy to kidnap Ocalan and deliver him to the Turkish authorities. This next week marks the 17th anniversary of the abduction, since when the Kurdish leader has been held in solitary confinement on the Isle of Imrali.
Saleh Muslim, co-chair of the PYD (Syrian Kurdish party) and Selahattin Demirtas, co-chair of the HPD (pro Kurdish party in Turkey) will be making political speeches. Door tenant Margaret Owen will be speaking on the Abduction and Detention of Ocalan in the context of international law.
