On 6 December 2010, the ICTR Trial Chamber II issued the Judgement in the case against Ildephonse Hategekimana. The Trial Chamber found Hategekimana guilty for crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity. Hategekimana was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Trial Chamber stated “that the sentence was reached after considering the gravity of each of the crimes for which the accused had been convicted as well as the aggravating and mitigating circumstances mentioned by the parties.”
Ildephonse Hategekimana was the former Commander of the Ngoma Camp.
